2011-12 Girls Only Incentive Program Recipients Announced December 5th, 2011 ProMOTION Plus and the BC Recreation and Parks Association are proud to announce the 2011 Girls Only (GO) Incentive Program grant recipients. GO was developed to provide sport opportunities for non-active girls and women in all regions of BC. With over 120 applications from across the province it was a challenge to narrow down the selection, however, funding of up to $2,500 was awarded to the following communities to increase the number of non-active girls and women in BC participating in sport:

The Girls Only Incentive Program | |

The Girls Only Incentive Program is a partnership between ProMOTION Plus and the BC Recreation and Parks Association and is supported by 2010 Legacies Now and the Federal Government. The Girls Only Incentive Program grant was developed to provide opportunities to participate in sport for non-active girls and women of all ages in all regions of BC.
• The programs can be focussed on a single sport or designed to provide exposure to a multi-sport experience for girls and/or women • Funding is available for new programs and enhancements for existing programs • Funding is available to a maximum of $2,500 for one program • An organization may apply for Girls Only Incentive Program grants for more than one program Eligible Applicants: • Municipal recreation departments in British Columbia • Community associations which provides sport and/or recreation programs • Not for profit societies and organizations which provide sport and/or recreation programs | |

Girls in Motion, Prince Rupert The Jim Ciccone Civic Centre in Prince Rupert wrapped up their second season of Girls in Motion this past spring. Girls in Motion, a multi-sport program designed to introduce inactive girls to a wide variety of sports and activities received funding through the Girls Only Incentive Program in 2005/06. The program was a huge success and the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre decided to continue on with it through spring 2007. Congratulations to Pat Holkestad and the Centre for their commitment to programming for girls! | |
