Ongoing Awards Programs
Bob Bearpark Coaching Fund Equity and Access Bursaries
The Bearpark Foundation was established in 1997 to support coaching education in British Columbia as an ongoing memorial legacy to Bob Bearpark. As a former Canadian National Soccer Coach and Director of BC Sport Services at the time of his death, Bob was devoted to the ongoing professional development of coaches in this country. He is remembered for his dedication to sport from the grassroots to elite levels and for his career in physical education, coaching and sport administration.
Equity and Access Bursaries
Consistent with Bob Bearpark's philosophy of equity and access and in partnership with the CABC, the Foundation has special bursaries to support coaching education for three categories of coaches: Aboriginal Coaches, Women Coaches and Coaches with a Disability. CAAWS Women in Sport Breakthrough Awards - The Breakthrough Awards are presented annually to outstanding nominees who have used innovative ideas and alternative approaches to encourage and enable girls and women to participate/lead/coach in sport and Physical Activity. CAAWS offers Breakthrough Awards in five categories: Individual, Youth, Media, Organization, Herstorical. For more information, visit CAAWS.

Wise (Women in Sport Encouragement) Fund
The Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS) is offering twelve grants of $900 to active girls and women and/or organizations offering sport programs targeted to girls and women. The WISE Fund was developed in response to the ongoing financial need within the sport community and will help fund MSO-NSO-PSO sport initiatives in an effort to help financially assist members of the sport community in Canada. This fund is provided by CAAWS with support from Sport Canada. Since 2004, CAAWS has supported 44 individuals and organizations through this fund, dispersing over $38,000 to members of the sport community.
National and Multi-Sport Organizations, as well as their provincial affiliates, are encouraged to apply. Individuals (such as athletes, coaches, officials) may also apply. Details can be found at www.caaws.ca.
Stacey Levitt Women and Sport Memorial Scholarship - This scholarship is open to a young woman, a girls' team, or a sport organization that exemplifies Stacey's ideals and qualities: demonstrates a keen interest in sports and a healthy lifestyle, takes the initiative to make positive things happen, is highly motivated and enthusiastic, strives to be the best and doesn't give up trying. This $2500 scholarship is in her memory. It will be shared by five recipients.

Vancouver and Victoria YWCA Women of Distinction Awards - The YWCA Women of Distinction Awards recognize women who inspire us and who are the trail builders amongst us today. In so doing, we remember the tenacious and courageous visionaries of the past, celebrate the women who are changing the way we live today, and nurture and inspire the young women who will shape our tomorrow. The Minerva Foundation for BC Women Grant - The grants program is intended to support innovative projects that respond to changing conditions and emerging issues. It promotes collaboration and partnerships, as well as initiatives that ensure equal access for all BC women. Areas of focus are Education, Economic Security, Leadership Development, and Safety.
